5 Festive TikTok Window Designs To Try This Christmas

It’s no secret that the UK loves Christmas. The average UK adult is expected to spend nearly £600 on the festivities this year – from the perfect presents and decorations, to delicious food and much more. But with the cost-of-living crisis still ongoing and many struggling financially, it seems some Christmas traditions may have to take priority over others.
Unfortunately, our investment in festive decorations is predicted to take a hit this year, with only 2% of us willing to dedicate a significant portion of our Christmas budget towards making our home look Christmassy.
Plus, with 85% of us aiming to have a more environmentally friendly Christmas this year, single-use and novelty decorations are likely to be swapped out for greener, handmade or second-hand options. Considering that Britain creates and throws away an extra 30% of rubbish during the Christmas period alone, when compared to the rest of the year, it’s definitely worth opting for more eco-conscious ways to decorate your home.
So, how can you make your home feel festive for less this year? Here, The Heritage Window Company has put together five of the best festive window designs on TikTok that won’t cost the earth. Upgrade your home Christmas decorations for less with these smart window designs.
5.Twinkling lights – 147,200 views
Our first festive window design idea comes courtesy of @newbuild_newlyweds. The couple decorate their windows beautifully with strings of Christmas lights arranged artfully around the glass and gorgeous festive wreaths hung in the centre of each window.
The pair use gold-toned lights for a warm, festive feel, but you can opt for white lights for a Winter Wonderland look, or even multi-coloured bulbs for a fun, eclectic aesthetic.
Always go for LED lights – these bulbs use 80% less energy than the conventional options. We also wouldn’t recommend putting hot glue on your actual window surround – opting instead to glue the lights to the brickwork, just like in the video here.
4.Christmas village – 162,900 views
The next entry on our list comes from @queenbeedesignstudioca, who uses white, water-soluble Sharpies to create a gorgeous Christmas village on her glass sliding doors. This design is super cute and looks beautiful from both inside and outside.
Michaelene (the face behind QueenBee) starts by drawing a selection of baubles, snowflakes, stars and candy canes on the upper part of her windows, before drawing some adorable, little houses to create her Christmas village at the bottom. She also adds some striking fir trees and snowmen, but you can add whatever you like!
As Michaelene says in her video – start with a basic plan and then take it one element at a time. We would also recommend investing in some specific glass pens to ensure that you do not damage your windows.
I love this design, it doesn't obscure light intake and beautifully compliments frames of any colour. I will definitely be trying this with the family this year!

3.Window wreath – 248,600 views
Next up, @thewindowartist (AKA Victoria) is encouraging us to add some colour to our windows for Christmas. She begins by drawing a circle in the centre of her window, using a pan lid to achieve the perfect shape. She then uses a green glass pen to draw some fir branches around the circle, followed by some white mistletoe leaves.
Victoria builds out her wreath further with holly berries and colourful dots, but – as she mentions in her video – you can create your own individual wreath, incorporating whichever colours and themes you want.
Finally, Victoria uses masking tape to help her draw a straight line from the top of the window down to her beautiful wreath, adding a big red bow as further decoration for a truly festive feel.
A super simple design takes the number two spot on our festive window countdown. With over 1.2 million views on TikTok alone, this easy snow spray window feature from @property_genie_plymouth is wonderfully effective.
The simplicity of this design is what makes it so effective. As someone who doesn’t love drawing freehand, this is the perfect hack to help my space feel festive quickly and easily.
Simply mark out equal square shapes on your glass using masking tape. Next, take some snow spray and follow the lines of the masking tape to create the impression of frosted window panes. Finally, remove the masking tape and enjoy this snowy window effect, even if there’s no sign of a white Christmas outside.
If you’re not super confident in your artistic abilities, this is the perfect design for you! Make this frosted window idea your own by cutting Christmassy snow spray templates out of card – think snowflakes, stars and miniature trees. You can buy snow spray that is safe for windows from a range of outlets and online stores.
Topping our festive countdown is this beautifully traditional green and red holly design, by @justaddchalkdesign. Begin by drawing a sweet, little red bow in the corner of each window. Then, add some green fir branches and white pine cones, fanning out from the bows and creating a border around the edge of your window.
I love this classic design! It’s so striking and will definitely catch the eye of anyone walking past my house. If you have kids, I think it’s a great idea to get them involved in this design! Let them colour in the shapes or design their own window border.
Next, add some cute, white berries and some large, green holly leaves with their distinctive shape, complete with a selection of red berries. Using a small roll of tape, draw a collection of small circular baubles onto the glass and colour them in using bright, festive colours, such as green, gold and red.
Keep adding more details until you have a festive border that you’re happy with! You can be as creative as you like with this design – try using a range of colours and adding other Christmassy ideas, such as snowflakes and stars.
Try some of these viral TikTok designs for Christmas-inspired windows that will impress your neighbours and make your home feel festive, both inside and out. Do you prefer the simplistic, white frost design, or are you looking to go all out with bright greens and reds?
Whichever design you go for, remember to use specific glass pens, so you can get your windows back to normal without a fuss when the new year rolls around.
