EdTech Innovators Secure Milestones in Middle East Markets

An innovative York-based company specialising in business education technology has achieved a significant international milestone with growth across the Middle East following its win in a major government trade awards programme.

SimVenture was the winner of the Education & EdTech category in the Department for Business and Trade’s Made in the UK, Sold to the World Awards 2024. The recognition from the award has propelled the company’s global reach, enabling revenue growth of nearly 40% this financial year.

The company’s flagship products — ‘Evolution’ and ‘Validate’— are widely adopted in over 20 countries. Notably, the prestige of the award has now opened doors in the Middle East, with SimVenture about to secure contracts worth up to £150,000 with the two of the largest universities in Oman and Egypt. These deals will see over 15,000 licences deployed, creating impactful learning experiences for thousands of students.

CEO Peter Harrington remarked:
“Winning the Made in the UK, Sold to the World Award has significantly elevated our profile on the global stage. This accolade not only celebrates our achievements but also helps us reach challenging markets with heightened credibility.”

The recognition has also amplified participation in SimVenture’s global business simulation competition, with a record 148 participants in the latest finals, further demonstrating the company’s role in advancing business education worldwide.

Gareth Thomas, Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports, said:
“When small businesses export, it opens a wealth of incredible opportunities. These awards are a testament to the innovation that British SMEs display day in, day out.

“As we enter the new year, our Plan for Change is about ensuring businesses across the country can thrive and grow. This will boost jobs and wages and firms that export are at the forefront of that growth. I encourage all those who have started on the exporting ladder to enter and showcase their success.”

With its strong performance and growing international presence, SimVenture exemplifies the potential of UK SMEs to make a global impact.

With the Made in the UK, Sold to the World Awards 2025 now open for applications, businesses across all sectors are encouraged to showcase their export achievements and apply. Now in their third year, the awards celebrate the international sales success of small-medium businesses across the UK and provide a stepping stone for further growth and opportunity.
