Hydes Reopens Cheshire Pub Following £400k Investment

Hydes Brewery has relaunched one of the oldest pubs in its estate, The Jolly Thresher in Lymm, Cheshire, following an extensive £400k refurbishment.

The transformation of the premium dining pub, part of the Hydes estate for 111 years, includes structural reconfiguration of storage facilities and relocation of toilets to create more open space in the dining area.

A full interior modernisation including new furniture and fixtures has been undertaken at the pub which is sympathetic to its existing features, retaining all the charm and character which has made the Jolly Thresher a major destination venue for diners and drinkers alike.

Outside, a complete refresh of the external signage greatly enhances visibility and improvements have also been made to the decking area, offering an improved al fresco dining and drinking experience.

Sister pub, The Wheatsheaf just 200 yards from The Jolly Thresher, also recently unveiled a £150k new look, signalling Hydes’ commitment to upgrading its establishments in Lymm. These latest refurbishments form part of an ongoing multi-million investment programme in the brewer’s estate over the next two years.

Joshua Watson, who joined Hydes in 2020 before becoming general manager at The Jolly Thresher in December 2021, is currently building a new kitchen and bar team in line with the new future and directional vision for the Jolly Thresher. .

Hydes, with its brewery in Media City, Salford, was formed in 1863 and supplies beers to wholesalers, pub companies and other brewers throughout the UK and a pub retailing estate of over 40 pubs across the North West of England and North Wales.
