Last weekend, Oliver Rowland stunned the Mexican fans, taking his fourth win in Formula E. The Nissan driver from Barnsley came from fourth on the grid to beat both Porshe drivers Antonio Felix De Costa and race favourite and reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein.

Within true Formula E style, the race was not short of drama, with the top four finishers of the race (Rowland, De Costa, Wehrlein and Jake Dennis) battling from the red lights to the chequered flag.

While the first half of the race had battles between the drivers, it looked set that one of the Porsche drivers would come out victorious.

On lap 28, a safety car had to be brought out for two laps after an incident involving David Beckmann hitting a wall.

At the restart, Rowland, in fourth, still had 80 seconds of attack mode left (increased battery power). This enabled Rowland to overtake those drivers in front of him, and quickly go from fourth to first within just half a lap.
Just after he got into the lead, the safety car got brought back out after a crash from last year's championship runner-up, Mitch Evans. For the remaining five laps, Rowland managed his lead from the pressure of De Costa and won with only 0.1% battery power left in his car.

This was the first time someone had won the Mexico E-Prix from behind the front row in five years, something Rowland will be very proud of.

In the Championship standings, the win took Oliver Rowland into second place in the standings, closing the gap to 12 points behind De Costa, who tops the championship after two races.

The next round will be held in Saudi Arabia on February 14 and 15.
