Scarborough Showcases Its Food Talent

An exciting new foodie project that will showcase Scarborough’s best culinary talent launches this month.

Two ‘food weeks’ – one commencing March 14th, the other starting November 7th – will feature some of the east coast’s best chefs who are being invited to encourage visitors to visit their venues by introducing special taster offers.

The concept, created by Scarborough Digital, The Green Room and Embers Scarborough Restaurant Week, is being funded with support from Yorkshire Coast BID.

The two new event weeks are open to all local cafes and restaurants to take part with the sole aim of promoting and celebrating Scarborough’s best culinary delights.

Dan Hargreaves from Embers, Scarborough said:“With the abundance of local produce and great chefs in Scarborough, we feel this is a great opportunity for people to try and experience what we have to offer”.

Phil Akrill from The Green Room, Scarborough said:“This is a great opportunity for restaurants and cafes in Scarborough to come together and show that there is great food and talent in our home town.

"The two events this year, are open to all restaurants and cafes, and we urge everyone to get involved and show what this area has to offer”.
All restaurants and cafés are being encouraged to get involved and list bespoke special Restaurant Week Offers for the event, with menu prices starting from £5 and up to £20.

The public will then get to download vouchers from www.scarboroughresturantweek.co.uk to use exclusively during the week and enjoy Scarborough’s best and support local restaurants and cafes.

Tasty deals already on the menu include:

£5 offer: Coffee and cake usually cost £6.

£10 offer:Burger and a soft drink usually costing £12.

£20:2/3 courses for £20

Jim Grieve from Scarborough Digital said:“There is a mass of culinary talent on offer in Scarborough’s hospitality sector. The aim of the week is to showcase the town’s talent and attract additional bookings from locals and visitors alike.”

Speaking of the Yorkshire Coast BIDs involvement in the project, Kerry Carruthers, Chief Executive said: “We are always looking for ways we can showcase the amazing food offering we have across the coast and champion local produce.

“We are thrilled to be supporting Scarborough Restaurant Week as we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support local businesses as part of our remit to support and promote the Yorkshire Coast.”
