The Wombats & Ocean Colour Scene Announced To Headline 'At Trentham'
Trentham has announced that The Wombats will headline the opening night of a brand-new concert series, At Trentham, on Thursday 29th May 2025. The concert series forms part of the Stoke 100 celebrations, they will be joined by Pale Waves and Red Rum Club, delivering an unmissable night of live music against the stunning backdrop of one of the Midlands’ most iconic outdoor venues.
The Wombats, one of the UK’s most celebrated indie bands, are known for their sharp lyrics and danceable anthems. Their latest album,
Fix Yourself, Not The World, topped the UK charts in 2022, and their new record,
Oh! The Ocean, is set for release in February 2025. Fans at Trentham can look forward to a mix of fresh tracks and favourites such as
Let’s Dance to Joy Division and
Moving to New York being performed.
Support comes from Manchester’s Pale Waves, whose emotionally charged alt-pop sound has made them a leading name in British indie music. Their 2024 album,
Smitten, reflects frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie’s journey of love and self-discovery, earning them widespread acclaim. Opening the evening is Liverpool’s Red Rum Club, whose brass-infused
Mariachi Merseybeat style saw their latest album, Western Approaches, break into the UK Top 10 earlier this year. rentham is thrilled to announce that Ocean Colour Scene will headline the Friday night of a brand-new concert series, At Trentham, on Friday 30th May 2025. The event forms part of a three-night concert series, as part of the Stoke 100 celebrations in 2025. Ocean Colour Scene will be joined by The Enemy as a special support act.
Ocean Colour Scene’s rip-roaring live shows are legendary, offering communal outpourings of hope and joy, with some of the most life-affirming singalongs you’ll ever hear. Having spent six years honing their sound, the band exploded onto the Britpop scene, delivering three Top 5 albums:
Moseley Shoals (1996),
Marchin’ Already (1997), and
One From The Modern (1999). Their chart-topping hits include 17 Top 40 singles, such as the iconic
The Riverboat Song. Ocean Colour Scene remains one of the most beloved bands of their era, known for their high-energy performances and a career-defining ability to bring audiences together.
Adding to the excitement, The Enemy will bring their distinctive blend of Britpop swagger and punk energy to the stage. Hailing from Coventry, this trio—lead singer and guitarist Tom Clarke, bassist Andy Hopkins, and drummer Liam Watts—rose to fame in 2007 with their debut album,
We’ll Live and Die in These Towns, featuring hits like
Away From Here and
It’s Not OK. Their sound, often likened to the passion of The Jam and the bravado of Oasis, propelled them to major success, including a sold-out reunion tour in 2022 after a hiatus. Now back in the studio working on their fifth album, The Enemy continues to captivate fans old and new, making them a perfect addition to this unforgettable night.

The event will raise money for local music venues.
As part of the series, with its focus on celebrating Stoke-on-Trent, organisers have teamed up with Music Venue Trust with an aim to raise funds to support local grassroots venues in the city, by encouraging customers to contribute to the Livelive Fund.
Live Funding directly benefits local Grassroots Music Venues in Stoke, through a localised donation, this means that the funds raised will be invested directly back into the community in this area.
Music Venue Trust recognises the brilliant Grassroots Music Venues in this city, including the likes of The Underground, The Sugarmill and Artisan Tap, who are tirelessly working to ensure that their local community has access to live events in their area.
Kerrie Pope, Head of Events and Marketing at Trentham said
“None of the artists we’re lucky to have playing this event would be where they are today without Grassroots Venues. The quality of performance we see from headliner acts comes from hard years of hard-work, playing up and down the country in all different kinds of clubs, bars and venues that have Live Music. We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to raise funds that will stay here in Stoke, whilst celebrating the city’s centenary here at Trentham!”
