Highly experienced criminal psychologist, guest lecturer, radio host, podcaster, and writer Linda Sage is teaming up with Writers Retreat UK in Beal, North Yorkshire, to host a weekend crime writing residential from 20-22 September. And so, volume 9 in this series of Chandos, Manchester Camerata, and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet Mozart Piano Concertos continues with three concertos that were composed together in 1782/83, shortly after Mozart had left his patron and position in Salzburg to establish himself as a freelance composer and performer in Vienna.

Rather than a stopgap to the next Texas album, these recordings mark a new path in the band's career, which opens the opportunity to perform the tracks in their new guise when the band goes on tour in the autumn.

This was a performance I’d been looking forward to for some time. On the night, we were at the back in the right-hand corner of the house, which turned out to be a double blessing. For one, it meant we had an aisle seat, which made getting out and topping up on drinks easier; secondly, it meant the formidable Stewart Lee couldn’t pick on us.

A new band, or in this case, three new bands. There is always a frisson when I’m seeing a band I’ve never seen before and don’t know much about. I think all of us who love going to gigs know that feeling. Will this be my next favourite band? A band I will see many times? A band that might go on to be huge? Or one that will simply fade away?

The sheer colour and vitality of Leeds’ annual West Indian Carnival, and of the exponents of cultural identity in all of its dynamism, endorses the patchwork pageant of integration that mostly seems to work in despite.
