2022 RIBA North West Building Of The Year Announced
The Welcome Building, RHS Garden Bridgewater by Hodder and Partners has been announced as the 2022 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) North West Building of the Year.
The Welcome Building at RHS Garden Bridgewater is a sustainable, engaging, and considered ‘public pavilion’ which has been designed and delivered to house all amenities for visitors to RHS Garden Bridgewater. From an invited competition, the local community has been consulted in creating a much-loved local asset where visitor numbers have far surpassed expectations through a combination of tourism and community visits.
RIBA President, Simon Allford said:
“Winning a regional Building of the Year Award is a major achievement. Across the country projects have been selected for this accolade because they are exemplars of the very best of innovative, intelligent and delightful design. The results of positive collaboration between architect and client, and design team and contractor, they demonstrate that high quality, sustainable architecture can positively impact the lives of the people that engage with it. My warmest congratulations to all those involved.”
The RIBA Regional Building of the Year Awards were presented at a ceremony at the RIBA’s Headquarters in London on Tuesday evening.
