Diversity - Bursting Into Action With Supernova

Fifteen years have passed since dance troupe Diversity won the television programme Britain’s Got Talent.

Their popularity shows no sign of waning, as witnessed by two sold-out performances at Blackpool’s Opera House, all part of a mammoth sixty-date tour taking in twenty-seven venues.

A tour of this magnitude requires complete fitness. The stamina needed after a physically exhausting two-hour set requires determination and energy.

The current show Supernova has the same formula as previously; leader Ashley Banjo being the main star, plenty of military-style dance routines, punchy movements, and a few backflips here and there, set against a musical soundtrack that includes acts as diverse as James Arthur, Kwaku Asante, and NF.

There's less physical activity during the second half and the storyline continues: a popstar crashes his car and goes into a coma. While in his coma he takes a journey through his past - all partly narrated by rapper Dujon 'Scoop' Thomson.

The message conveyed is that good always wins out in the end, so live your best life and treasure those you love. The way Banjo and his dancers brought life and vitality to the stage gives an uplifting feeling.

Their open-heartedness extends to charity too. Diversity is supporting the anti-poverty charity, the Trussell Trust and there are opportunities to leave cash donations at the collection points at the venues.

A night of pure entertainment that was big, energetic, and relentlessly engaging.
