From Yorkshire Roots To Vigor Vitamins: The Story Of Rachel Beck

Rachel Beck
Rachel Beck
Rachel Beck didn't set out to build a supplement brand. She set out to find work that actually meant something.

Growing up in Steeton, a small village in Yorkshire, Rachel was the middle of three children and developing, early on, both the drive to push herself and the instinct to care for those around her. After leaving school she worked in customer service before moving into sales, then progressing into management and leadership roles. By most measures, it looked like a successful career, but despite the progression, something consistently felt out of place. She stepped away from corporate life for a period of travel and reflection, later moving into music and hospitality while continuing to search for work that felt genuinely meaningful.

In 2018, Rachel's father was diagnosed with a brain tumour. A deeply hardworking man of strong morals and integrity, his death the following year had a profound impact.

"It made me realise how important it is not to miss the chance to build a life that feels true to you," Rachel reflects. "He gave everything to working hard and doing the right thing. Losing him changed how I thought about everything."

A period of significant personal change followed. Rather than retreat from it, Rachel used it as a catalyst. After turning 40, she became increasingly intentional about her own health and wellbeing and increasingly frustrated with the supplement industry she encountered along the way.

"The market was full of overcomplicated products, exaggerated claims and unnecessary additives," she says. "And there was very little that genuinely supported women going through real hormonal changes, such as perimenopause, menopause, and the midlife transition, in a simple, honest way."

The turning point came through an unexpected route. Working in recruitment, Rachel was brought in to find a new Managing Director for a local vitamin manufacturer. She went to meet the company's founder, connected immediately on values and integrity, and was so impressed by what the business stood for that she applied for the role herself (being transparent with her employer throughout). She didn't get the job, but what she was offered instead proved to be exactly what she'd been looking for: the opportunity to develop her own formula and bring it to market through a manufacturer whose standards matched her own.

"I'd spent years looking for a business I could build with genuine integrity," Rachel says. "When that conversation happened, something just clicked."

Vigor Vitamins launched in May 2024 with its first product, Vigor Essential: a daily multivitamin designed specifically for women, combining 13 essential vitamins with ingredients to support energy, bone and muscle health, cognition and immunity in a single, highly absorbable capsule. Rather than launching a full range from day one, Rachel built the product line deliberately and responsively: Vigor Collagen followed, combining wild-caught marine and grass-fed bovine collagen peptides to support skin, hair and nails, joints and muscle recovery, then Vigor Creatine: 100% pure creatine monohydrate to support muscle strength, brain health and healthy ageing.

Each addition has been driven by genuine customer need rather than commercial impulse, a principle Rachel intends to carry forward as the range continues to grow. A distinctive feature for Vigor Essential is the use of refillable Biophotonic Violet Glass bottles, a packaging innovation that protects product potency by filtering harmful light frequencies without the need for preservatives. All products are UK-made and free from unnecessary fillers.

Growth for Vigor has been a gradual process, and an intentional one. Rather than chasing quick wins, Rachel has focused on showing up consistently; on social media, through the brand's blog and in local business communities, always with honest, straightforward information about women's health. That steady effort has built something that feels genuinely rare in the supplement industry: a customer base that trusts the brand, returns to it, and grows with it.

That sense of community is central to everything Rachel builds, from the education-first content she produces to the direct conversations she has with the women who buy from her. Vigor exists, she says, to make women feel supported as people, not just as customers.

I wanted to create something that actually helps women feel well, strong and like themselves again. Not because it's a good marketing angle, but because I needed those things too.

In August 2026, Vigor was nominated for the Sustainable Business of the Year Award at the Keighley Business Awards; recognition that reflects Rachel's commitment to clean, responsibly made products and ethical business practices. The awards, hosted by BBC Look North presenter Paul Hudson, take place on Friday 25th September 2026.

For Rachel, Vigor represents more than a product range. It's the business she spent years searching for; one built with genuine care, purpose and integrity, where honesty and real results matter more than clever packaging or inflated promises. When she's not developing new products, she's strength training, walking the Yorkshire countryside, or encouraging other women to invest in their long-term health.

She can also, for the record, rap every word of Forgot About Dre; a detail she insists is entirely relevant to her credentials as a founder.
