Have A Bollywood Ball At Blackpool Grand Theatre

It’s the fabulous, fun-filled fairytale of Cinderella with
a delicious sprinkling of South Asian spice…

Get ready for the smash-hit spectacular SURINDERELLA. This September, Bollywood makes its dazzling debut at Blackpool Grand Theatre. It’s a magical night out full of sparkle, sass and shaadi drama that’s not to be missed!

Surinderella is a glittering South Asian twist on the classic rags-to-riches Cinderella story and will twirl into Blackpool Grand Theatre from Tuesday 22 September to Saturday 26 September, packed with dazzling dance numbers, colourful costumes, heartwarming romance and lots of comedy chaos.

Whether you’re a Bollywood superfan or simply looking for a night out filled with laughter, love and larger-than-life fun, this magical musical extravaganza is guaranteed to have audiences saying “wah wah!” from beginning to end.

Written by acclaimed director and playwright Pravesh Kumar MBE (Gods on Mountains, Little English) and presented by Rifco Theatre Company in association with Belgrade Theatre Coventry and Imagine Theatre, Surinderella tells the captivating tale of The Bolly-woods, where the naach is nonstop, the drama is bigger than your aunties and the romance is straight out of a filmi blockbuster.

Meet Surinder – sweet, strong and stuck in a never-ending chore list thanks to her two selfie-obsessed, Insta-vlogging stepsisters, Lovely and Bubbly. Her only real support? The one and only Basanti, a cow with more attitude than a desi girl.

Meanwhile, Prince Kavi is drowning in shaadi pressure from his royal family. But when he accidentally bumps into Surinder, sparks fly faster than a Bollywood dance sequence!

Enter the fabulous Devi Godmother, arriving in full-on glam mode with magic, makeovers and plenty of masala moves. With a dazzling Bollywood ball, a mystical slipper and a lot of bakwas, Surinder’s destiny is about to get a serious glow-up!

Director of Surinderella, Ameet Chana, said: “After the absolute madness and love we received in 2025, we just couldn't leave Surinderella in the wings. So she's back for an extended 2026 tour and visiting Blackpool for the very first time! I'm thrilled to welcome back some of our incredible original cast, and we’ve cranked up the Desi panto magic to eleven with brand-new visual treats for the whole family. Plus, we have a few BIG surprises to announce very soon... so stay tuned! Rifco is bringing you a full-on desi Sizz-erella Summer!”

New to the world of Bollywood? It’s the informal term for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai, India, and is one of the largest centres of film production in the world. Known for its elaborate song and dance sequences, dramatic storytelling and scores of colourful costumes, the term 'Bollywood' is a hybrid of 'Bombay' (the former name of Mumbai) and 'Hollywood', and its films often blend various genres, including drama, romance and action; appealing to a wide and varied audience base.

Fancy a taste of British South Asia live by the seaside? Surinderella is a joyous celebration of love, family and finding your own happily-ever-after, with plenty of bhangra beats along the way.
