Watch European And British Title Fight For Free On Fightzone

Three of boxing’s most prestigious titles will be up for grabs on Saturday February 24th when Fight Academy stage a fantastic evening of boxing at the Liverpool Olympia – with all the action shown LIVE/FREE on Fightzone.

Topping the action on the night is a brilliant match between local favourite Connor Butler defending his European and Commonwealth Flyweight Titles against proven Welshman Jay Harris – who will also be putting his British belt on the line.

Butler is the up-and-comer who is on the rise. After a hugely successful amateur career, the baby-faced 25-year-old turned pro in 2018 and is now unbeaten at 11-01 (1) – including a stellar 2023 that saw him beat both Matt Windle and Craig Derbyshire to claim the brace of belts he’ll be fighting to hang onto in his home city.
Harris though is a formidable opponent for the much-heralded Butler. The Swansea native has operated at the highest level, including a brave but losing world title effort against Mexican star Julio Cesar Martinez in 2020. With just three losses on his 23-fight ledger, Jay heads into the contest on a high after stopping Tommy Frank last year to claim the Lonsdale Belt.

A classic match-up that pits youthful talent against experienced pedigree … Butler versus Harris for all the marbles is another brilliant coup for Fightzone and Fight Academy.

Stephen Vaughan, said:
“Connor is a huge talent and someone I feel who can potentially go all the way to the top of the sport.

“This is undoubtedly a huge test for him but, if he can come through it, it’s a big stepping stone onto the world stage.

“Jay Harris has only been beaten by world class fighters and we saw how good he was in his last fight against a very strong fighter in Tommy Frank. This is Jay’s last opportunity at the big time though, he will give it everything but I just feel that Connor’s freshness and skillset will see him through.”

“What a smashing fight to kick off our 2024 schedule,” explained Dennis Hobson. “It doesn’t get much bigger than the European Title, and to have the British and Commonwealth belts also on the line just gives it that extra special feel.

“Connor is going to have to be at his very best to win this one. Jay has already beaten one of our fighters in Tommy Frank and was very impressive that night.
“We know that Jay’s a top-level operator but we just feel that Connor is pretty special and this will be his night to really come of age.”

Steve Crump, added:
“The British, European and Commonwealth belts have such great history, so for fans to be able to watch a fight with these three titles on the live for FREE is amazing in this era where every other fight seems to be Pay-Per-View.

“We’ve got more great shows and fights lined up on Fightzone this year, and I urge anyone that can’t get to the venue for this Liverpool show to subscribe to Fightzone and get lots more FREE fight action in 2024.”
