Photo printing company, CEWE, and The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), recently partnered to launch the ‘UK’s Beautiful Places’ photography competition. The competition aimed to celebrate all types of photography that capture the wonder of the UK including people, places, nature and animals.

With a shared passion for photography and keeping the art alive amongst younger generations, the competition is part of an ongoing partnership between CEWE and the PAGB and provided photographers the opportunity to showcase their best work.

Rod Wheelans, PAGB Life Vice President, said:
“The PAGB is delighted to be working with CEWE in an ongoing partnership to encourage the art of photography, especially the making of printed images, which is, of course the speciality of CEWE. The UK has so much to offer in landscape, architecture and nature so it has been a real pleasure to see so many wonderful images from so many camera club members celebrating our “beautiful places” The entrants submitted digital files but they were assessed as prints, beautifully produced in-house by CEWE. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part.”

Dale Orton, Head of Photo Culture at CEWE UK, said:
“After partnering with PAGB earlier this year, we were keen to work together on a photography competition and celebrating the wonders of the UK seemed like the perfect idea.

“Together, we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the images that were submitted by photographers across the UK, celebrating all the beauty it beholds. It was really great to see so many different types of images and unique perspectives from the architecture of rural villages to nature throughout the seasons. We hope this competition has encouraged and inspired people to go out and experience the UK and share their beautiful photography.”

The winner received a £100 CEWE voucher to be used across all products. Second place received a £50 voucher and third place a £25 voucher.

Entrants to the ‘UK’s Beautiful Places’ photography competition also had the chance to enter their photos into the CEWE Photo Award, the worlds largest photography competition, which closed on the 31st May. This year there is a new jury for the award, featuring seven members that have been chosen for their photo expertise and different perspectives. The jury is chaired by Michel Comte, the world-renowned Swiss fashion and nature photographer.

The jury will choose the most beautiful and best shots submitted globally to the competition this summer in order to select the competition winners. The 1000 overall winners can look forward to prizes totalling more than €250,000. In addition, three monthly winners will be chosen, each receiving a voucher for CEWE photo products worth €100. Charity partner, SOS Children's Villages Worldwide, has been selected, with 10 Euro cents being donated to the children's relief organisation for every photo submitted.
